This solidarity campaign for Makers Unite's project Re-vest Life aims to connect refugees and locals, and to clean the environment at the same time. An initiative for reusing refugee life vests to produce ribbons that raise awareness on the refugee cause and empower newcomers. The kick-off of Re-vest Life happened on King's Day, a moment understood by Makers Unite as the ultimate Dutch cultural opportunity to blend newcomers in. In order to draw attention, I devised a typographic installation made out of life-vests that was located in Prinsengracht –a canal in the center of Amsterdam. Together with several photocall stands and guerrilla posters all over the city, Makers Unite engaged with the crowd during their first life vest ribbons sale.
